Reflecting on 2023: WCMS Biggest year yet?

Dear WCMS Family,

As we draw the curtain on another remarkable year, my heart swells with gratitude and reflection on the journey we've shared at West Coast Music School (WCMS). This year has been a tapestry of emotions, challenges, and triumphs, and I wanted to take a reflect on how incredibly this year has been with you all.

Embracing New Faces:

Our WCMS family blossomed with the arrival of some extraordinary team members – Jas, Nicole, Connor, Emma, and Indigo. Their passion and dedication have breathed new life into our WCMS community.

Farewells to Pillars:

With a heavy heart, we said our goodbyes to Kaelah and Darcy, true pillars of our team. Their legacy will forever resonate within the walls of WCMS.

A Symphony of Performances:

This year's performances were nothing short of a symphony – from the Exhibition & Spring Tones to the crescendos of Band Fest and the Showcase. Witnessing the growth of our students, some gracing the stage for the eighth consecutive year, has been a poignant reminder of the beauty in progress.

New Programs and Initiatives:

The launch of the KinderGro program in February and the Intro to Music Course in October marked pivotal moments. The revamped Mini Musos curriculum, our shiny new website, and the introduction of the annual calendar have added layers to our musical narrative.

A Pioneering Chapter:

The most profound reflection centres around the transformation in WCMS's educational structure. Unveiling the Group Musicianship Sessions (GMS) and the annual calendar was a seismic shift. The outpouring of positivity and support has underscored the significance of this transformative journey.

A Year of Triumph Amidst Challenges:

This year bore a deeply personal weight for me. Navigating significant health challenges and spending a lot of time in the hospital during the first half of this year prompted a profound introspection on the essence of music. For me, it transcends mere instrumental skills; it's about the warmth of community and the unwavering support that accompanies it.

Writing this reflection now also reminds me of how incredible the WCMS team is. They kept this all going well I was out of action - not only maintaining what we had, but growing and implementing along the way.

Our Community

Thank you for being an integral part of this incredible journey. Your support, dedication, and passion have moulded WCMS into the vibrant and unique community it is today. Here's to the memories we've crafted and the harmonies we've woven together.

Wishing you all a soulful holiday season, and eagerly anticipating the creation of more musical magic in the coming year.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Kathryn x
