What You’ll Learn in Your Piano Lessons

  • Proper hand position and posture are fundamental for safe piano playing. Students will learn to maintain relaxed and balanced hand positions and playing posture to achieve control and accuracy

  • Developing finger strength and independence is a crucial piano skills. Exercises & activities are used to strengthen fingers, allowing for better control over each key.

Scales and chords are the building blocks of music. We will move past the abstract nature of these and apply them in music to allow for better comprehension.

  • Learn to convey emotion through your music by understanding dynamics, articulation, tempos and phrasing.

Go beyond the notes and connect emotionally with the music you play, making each performance unique and heartfelt.

  • Master the pedal to create beautiful, layered sounds and enhance the depth of your piano pieces.

Learn how to use the una corda (soft pedal), sostenuto pedal and damper (sustain) pedal appropriately while learning various pedalling techniques.

  • Develop your musical ear to play by ear, improvise, and recognise melodies and harmonies with ease.

  • Gain a deeper understanding of music theory, making it easier to compose, improvise, and appreciate the music you play.

Music Theory allows for comprehension of music and equips our students for the world of music beyond lessons.

  • Hone your sight-reading abilities, so you can quickly learn new music and play it confidently.

  • Acquire the skill of playing music in different keys, giving you greater flexibility as a pianist.
